George H.W. Bush, former U.S. president, dead at 93 is another death hoax. There is no truth to another report that the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993 passed away. Rather, this is a second death hoax following the recent death of his wife, Barbara Bush.
Where did this death hoax originate? The Daily World Update published the death hoax on April 27, 2018, reporting that Bush had passed a week since he lost his wife. You can read the death hoax below.
It took less than a week for the loss of his soulmate and wife of 75 years to steal George H.W. Bush’s will to live. Reports from Naranthan Timonson-Smith Medical Center in Houston are coming in from low-level interns and morgue workers that the Secret Service is guarding a body draped in an American flag in the basement of the hospital.
Bush had been in intensive care for an infection before his death, which we estimate to be at 10:15 PM Eastern.
The Bush family, Secret Service and hospital all refuse to confirm or deny the report. A source close to the family says they may not want to have to wake everyone so late and disrupt a night’s sleep that they will surely need for the week ahead.
However, there is no truth to the above story. What is the problem with the story to make it false? Of course, there is no legitimate news coverage of Bush passing. Additionally, there is no “Naranthan Timonson-Smith Medical Center” and Bush is currently hospitalized at Houston Methodist Hospital. Finally, and most importantly, Daily World Update carries the following disclaimer on its website:
sat·ire
ˈsaˌtī(ə)r
noun
The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
While the site clearly labels itself as satire, you can judge whether a death hoax is something funny. Bush was the subject of a previous death hoax from a site (NYTimes-news.com) masquerading as The New York Times. That site did not carry a disclaimer but the story was easily debunked.
In reality, Bush is expected to remain at Houston Methodist Hospital through the weekend to continue his recovery, according to Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath. Bush was hospitalized on April 22 after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. McGrath tweeted Friday that , Bush is “in excellent spirits, and is looking forward to resuming his schedule and going to Maine next month.”
Fmr President @GeorgeHWBush will remain in @MethodistHosp through the weekend to continue his recovery and regaining strength. 41 is in excellent spirits, and is looking forward to resuming his schedule and going to Maine next month.

Bush has a form of Parkinson’s disease along with a history of pneumonia and other infections.
