Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson feuding backstage on The Voice is fake news. There is no truth to a report that the two Voice coaches are having issues behind the scenes of the popular music competition. The only fighting between the two friends is the playful sparring in front of the cameras.
Where did this fake news originate? RadarOnline published the fake news article, reporting that with the headline, “‘The Voice’ War! Inside Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson’s Explosive Backstage Feud.”
There is absolutely no truth behind the claim that there is “battle between the contestants” and that the “dueling divas went at it on-camera this week” and “didn’t stop when the cameras quit rolling.” However, RadarOnline failed to provide any specifics to support their outrageous claims.
Here is an example of someone sharing the fake news on social media.

Gossip Cop reported that the alleged source for RadarOnline fails to discover the reason for the alleged fight despite the fact that the Voice was filmed back in January. While RadarOnline claims Shelton and Clarkson are “together like every day now,” the show was filmed in February.
The live portion of The Voice has not started yet so the coaches have not been together in a while. In fact, Shelton actually spent the last few days in Oklahoma with Gwen Stefani, not in Los Angeles for “The Voice.” So, it seems very unlikely that Shelton and Clarkson would now be fighting.
Additionally, RadarOnline writes that Clarkson’s “mother-in-law happens to be country legend Reba McIntyre.” Not only is McEntire misspelled, but the music icon split from Clarkson’s father-in-law Narvel Blackstock back in 2015 and their divorce was finalized that year.
Monday’s episode went all in on Clarkson and Shelton’s country singers by featuring them in three different “battles,” where the coaches pit two team members against each other. So far, it has been a fun season of The Voice. And, the only feud Clarkson was even slightly in was one with former contestant Molly Stevens who criticized Clarkson then apologized after negative fan backlash.
It all started with an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, from Stevens, who complained about her coach, Clarkson, relating her voice to that of Melissa Etheridge and the Indigo Girls.
“While I’m extremely honored to be in that category of talent, I do believe that comment did us all a disservice and only threw us into a labeling trap,” Stevens wrote. “It felt small minded to me and exactly what I feel we need to bring attention to the world. I am a singer-songwriter who happens to be gay. And so it @melissa_etheridge and @indigogirlsmusic… But it’s a common stereotype that happens too often. People put us in boxes.”
The four-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season. Superstar singer-songwriter Clarkson makes her debut as a coach this season, with Season 12-winning coach and musical icon Alicia Keys taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches, Adam Levine and Shelton, and host Carson Daly.
