4 Ways to Grow Your Business While Everyone Is on Vacation

Hire Your First EmployeeBecause it’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s things are pretty quiet right now. People are enjoying some downtime and are out of the office. Because of this, it’s also a good time to grow your business while everyone is on vacation.

During our regular schedules, it can be difficult to do the tasks that actually move our businesses forward. This is because we’re usually busy with client work. But, in order for us to make more money, we have to focus on growing the business. This could mean creating a new marketing plan, sales or creating a new product.

Here are four ways to grow your business while everyone is on vacation this week.

Review your numbers.

Numbers don’t lie, which is why I like them. They can also be good indicators of what direction your business needs to move in. For example, do you need to bring down expenses? What products or services are your best sellers? What’s not working?

In order for us to actually know the answers to these questions, we need to take the time to review everything. So while everyone is on vacation, use it as an opportunity to get clear on the financials.

Create a marketing plan.

No one is going to pay you for your goods and services unless they know it exists. That’s why small business owners must consistently market themselves. The problem is very little of them have an actual plan in place.

In order to create a marketing plan, you need to figure out how someone goes from social media lurker to buyer. You need to map out that process so that you know where to focus your marketing efforts.

This takes some time and concentration, but the answers will help you grow your business very quickly. So use your downtime this week wisely and create a marketing plan for the new year.

Create your content for the year.

Another way to grow your business while everyone is on vacation is to create your marketing content for the year. It’s so hard to create content for yourself while also catering to clients, so the downtime this week provides the perfect opportunity to get ahead of the game.

For example, I will likely be creating solo podcast episodes this week so that I have several of them ready to go for 2018. It’s much harder to do this during the year when I’m working on things for clients.

Plan out a product.

Maybe you’ve decided that 2018 is the year where you create multiple sources of income. This inevitably means you need to create a new product or service you can get paid for.

Lucky for you, it’s quite enough this week for you to figure this out. Take this opportunity to create a concept for a new product or service. You also want to map out a plan for creating the product as well as a launch schedule.

Final Thoughts

One of my mentors once told me that the best time to grow your business is while everyone else is on vacation. I have taken this to heart and every year I use this week to map out my next steps. The result is that I continue increasing my business revenue year after year.
